Cape Town – Operation Dudula leader Nhlanhla “Lux” Dlamini has reportedly said that there are threats against his life, following his release on R1 500 bail on Monday.
Dlamini was arrested last week on Thursday shortly after leaving the Kaya FM studios where he had been interviewed.
His arrest came after a case was opened against him by a Soweto resident, Victor Ramerafe, 59, whose home was allegedly ransacked by members of Operation Dudula.
Dlamini had been detained at the Johannesburg Central police station.
Addressing his supporters soon after his release, Dlamini said he was willing to die for his beliefs.

“All of us know where drugs are being sold. There’s already talk of a planned hit on me that Lux won’t last two weeks after his release – he will be shot. I will be the happiest person underground if I am going to die for my people,” EWN quoted Dlamini as saying.
He said that even if he was killed, he was confident that Operation Dudula’s ideology would be carried forward.
Meanwhile, IOL reported that the activist’s lawyer, Ike Khumalo, told broadcaster Newzroom Afrika that the charges against him were frivolous and laughable.
“These charges are laughable because you can go interview the communities, and they will tell you that the guy is a drug dealer. People drop drugs there. They smoke drugs there,” the report quoted Khumalo as saying.
Khumalo said there was a team of attorneys and advocates helping Dlamini “because they do understand what he stands for”.
