Cape Town – One SA movement leader Mmusi Maimane recently took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the safety of South African citizens, following a spate of tavern shootings that have claimed the lives of many.
He posted the tweet after a tavern shooting in Savanna Park Marianhill, KZN which left six people dead and one wounded over the weekend.
Maimane’s comments came as the country was mourning 15 people who were murdered during a mass shooting at a Soweto tavern.
The mass shooting was followed by a number of other shootings across the country.
He said that citizens should be able to socialise freely without fear of being victims of tavern shootings, which he described as “truly tragic”.
This is truly tragic.
Everyone should be able to go out and socialize with their friends without being terrified that they may not make it back home.
