Cape Town – Three suspects have reportedly been arrested for the kidnapping of a Gauteng businessman, Zaheer Asmal.
Reports indicated on Tuesday that Zaheer had been rescued unharmed during an intelligence-driven operation by the National Crime Intelligence Anti-Kidnapping Task Team.
“Thank God he is home and fine!,” News24 quoted Zaheer’s brother Mohamed Asmal as saying.
The report also quoted police spokesperson Colonel Athlenda Mathe as saying that the national Crime Intelligence anti-kidnapping task team led a multi-disciplinary operation to rescue Zaheer.

Zaheer, who is the owner of Fred’s Hardware store in Vereeniging in Gauteng was allegedly kidnapped by four men in front of his store on Thursday last week.

The perpetrators were caught on camera.
In the video, the victim is seen climbing out of his white bakkie and standing outside his shop before two suspects approach him.
Seconds later a black van with a fake number plate (FT00BC GP) can be seen pulling up with another suspect getting out of the passenger side to help the two suspects get the victim in the car.
The victim looks perplexed as he raises his hands to surrender.
The suspects force him onto the backseat and drive off.
