Cape Town – Dr Nandipha Magudumana is set to request bail at the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court, having previously abandoned a bail application in favour of challenging her arrest’s legality in the Free State High Court.
However, her attempt to contest the arrest’s validity was dismissed by the High Court.
The Free State National Prosecution Authority’s spokesperson, Phaladi Shuping, indicated that the application is scheduled for both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Magudumana is one of 12 individuals accused of aiding a prisoner in escaping police custody, specifically relating to the escape of convicted serial rapist and murderer Thabo Bester from Mangaung Correctional Centre in May of the previous year.
Bester’s escape was allegedly facilitated by prison staff to appear as a staged suicide.
