Cape Town – Police are investigating after bodies of a married couple, both employed by the Mangaung metro traffic department, were discovered in the living room of their residence in Hospitaalpark near Bloemfontein.
The couple’s teenage daughter, who lived in a separate cottage on the property, entered the main house at 06:00 and discovered the tragic scene.
She immediately alerted her 21-year-old brother, who was still asleep in the cottage, and together they contacted the police.
“The two bodies were discovered by their 17-year-old daughter at about 06:00 when she entered the main house from an outside cottage that she shares with her brother. She then hurried back to the cottage where her 21-year-old brother was still sleeping. She woke him up and they called the police,” police spokesperson lieutenant Colonel Thabo Covane said.
The father, aged 47, had a single gunshot wound to his head, while the mother, aged 38, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her body and head.
Murder and inquest dockets are under investigation.
