Cape Town – A 16-year-old teenager in Durban was allegedly kidnapped on Tuesday morning while waiting for his school transport but managed to escape.
According to IOL, the incident occurred when three males approached him on Basil February Road in Wentworth at around 07.30.
The victim’s mother said the suspects covered his face, pulled him into a vehicle, and took him to a shipping container.
However, the teenager was able to free himself and was assisted by a member of the public who brought him back home.
“It is alleged that the victim was waiting for school transport when he was kidnapped. The victim was kept in a shipping container for a day before he managed to escape. No arrests have been made,” The report quoted Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda as saying.

Police are investigating a case of kidnapping, and no arrests have been made so far, the report said.
In November last year, a 16-year-old girl from Phoenix was allegedly kidnapped, raped, and severely injured while on her way to write her exams.
The incident left her traumatised, and her family believed her recovery will be long and difficult, Tabloid Newspapers reported.
She was found near a water treatment plant by a security guard who called for help. The security company arrived and transported her to the hospital.
The family spokesperson recounted that three men in their 30s approached her in a black car, grabbed her, and forced her into the vehicle. They drove her to an informal settlement where they sexually assaulted her before dropping her off near the water treatment plant.
