Cape Town – A 45-year-old teacher in Limpopo has been arrested for allegedly planning to kill his wife.
The arrest followed a tip-off received by the police’s tracking team and murder and robbery unit.
The teacher allegedly hired someone to carry out the murder and was caught in the act of exchanging money.
He had already paid a portion of the agreed amount.
“The police operationalised information about the suspect and his evil intentions and was subsequently pounced on while he was at hiding place after arranging with a source to pay him a portion of the amount agreed for killing his wife.
“The suspect had already paid R5 000 a portion of the agreed R15 000, and the police ultimately managed to intercept and arrest him immediately after the transaction of cash payment was made,” Limpopo police spokesperson, Hlulani Mashaba said.
The motive behind the planned murder is unknown, but gender-based violence and femicide are not ruled out.
The suspect will be charged with conspiracy to commit murder and is scheduled to appear in court on December 27.
