Cape Town – Three suspects are being sought by Mpumalanga police after a teacher, Rose Mahlangu, was reportedly abducted from her home during an armed robbery and subsequently found dead with a gunshot wound.
The suspects invaded her residence in Phola Park, KwaMhlanga, while her husband was present and forced him inside the house at gunpoint, tying him up and stealing two cellphones, Times Live quoted Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli as saying.
They then abducted Rose Mahlangu when she arrived home in her Ford Everest SUV and drove off with her.
The incident was reported to the police and the stolen vehicle was recovered later, but the next morning, her lifeless body was discovered near the road.
“Sadly, the following morning [Tuesday] the lifeless body of Ms Mahlangu was found with a gunshot wound, dumped next to the road. She was unfortunately certified dead by the paramedics,” the report quoted Mdhluli as saying.
The suspects also targeted two other houses in the area, injuring a 37-year-old female teacher in a separate incident, IOL reported.
Following the shooting of the woman in the leg, the attackers proceeded to rob her by coercing her into making an undisclosed money transfer from her bank account.
The culprits made their getaway from the scene with the woman’s laptop and mobile phones.
These criminals remain at large, prompting a police investigation and manhunt.
Authorities encourage the public to share information regarding the perpetrators by calling the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or using MYSAPSAPP. All provided information will be treated confidentially, and tipsters may remain anonymous.
