Cape Town – A 30-year-old woman was reportedly rushed to hospital on Wednesday after she collapsed shortly before the funeral of the 21 Enyobeni tavern victims in East London.
According to Daily Dispatch, the woman was a relative of Bhongo Ncandana, a 17-year-old who died in the tragedy.
The incident happened as mourners gathered in Scenery Park for the mass funeral of 21 teenagers who died in the tarven tragedy on June 26.
President Cyril Ramaphosa was one of the mourners.

One of the mourners, who read an obituary for one of the victims, reportedly turned to President Cyril Ramaphosa and said: “Mr President, SA is tired, the black nation is perishing.”

The cause of the victims’ deaths remained unknown but AFP reported that the fatalities bore no visible signs of injury and that officials had ruled out a stampede as the cause of the deaths.
Police investigations were still ongoing.
Drinking in South Africa was permitted for over-18s. But in township taverns, which were often located close to family homes, safety regulations and drinking-age laws were not always enforced, the report said.
