Suspended netball boss blasts ‘faceless’ accusers

Cape Town – Suspended Netball South Africa (NSA) president Cecilia Molokwane has reportedly said that she has not been formally charged by World Netball, and the allegations against her stem from anonymous sources.

According to Times Live, although she skipped a parliamentary meeting due to her provisional suspension, an email she sent was read out, in which she denied any wrongdoing and insisted on her right to a fair hearing.

Molokwane, who also holds leadership roles in continental and global netball bodies, vowed to defend herself, calling the allegations “faceless” and damaging to her reputation.

“World Netball has yet to determine whether I have a case to answer. nor have I been formally charged with any misconduct,” her email read, according to the report.

“I vehemently deny having conducted myself in contravention of World Netball’s disciplinary code and will vigorously defend any allegations which may subsequently be levelled against me.”

World Netball has barred her from participating in the sport while investigations continue.

According to SABC News, NSA, however, claims it is unaware of the charges against her.

Molokwane, who also heads Africa Netball and sits on World Netball’s board, is accused of sidelining individuals who may not support her bid for a third term in the 2025 NSA elections, the report said.
