Polokwane —The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Giyani has launched a manhunt for a 34-year-old suspect who allegedly stoned his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend — the mother of his child — at Dzingidzingi village, on Saturday 8 April 2023.
According to SAPS spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the victim was allegedly walking home with a friend after spending time at the local tavern. On their way home, they met her ex-boyfriend.
“It is alleged that the two had a confrontation before the suspect assault the victim with a stone. Her friend screamed for help and ran to households nearby, when she return the victim was critically injured and unconscious. The suspect was nowhere to be found,” Ledwaba said.

The victim was taken to hospital but succumbed to her injuries. She was identified as Nokuthula Sithole, aged 23, residing at Dzingidzingi village in Giyani, Mopàni District.
Ledwaba added that a case of murder was opened and a manhunt was immediately activated.
“Police calls on Ceaseman Dala Chauke. aged 34 to avail himself at his nearest police station as it is believed he will assist the police with further investigation.”
