Cape Town – A suspect was fatally wounded and a homeowner was left in a critical condition following an alleged home invasion in the Morningside area in Durban on Wednesday evening.
This was after a group of armed suspects allegedly forced entry into the home, holding up the family, Emer-G-Med said in a statement.
The incident occurred around 20:00.
“A number of armed suspects forced entry into the home holding up the family and a shooting ensued with the suspect suffering fatal gunshot wounds.
When the paramedics arrived, they found that a female homeowner had suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was in a critical condition.
“Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilise her before she was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.
“A male approximately thirty years of age was found to have sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival of paramedics,” said the statement.
Police were investigating.
