Cape Town – Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says the possibility of declaring Sunday a public holiday if the Springboks win the Rugby World Cup is still under consideration.
Magwenya said this in response to a journalist’s question during a briefing on the President’s weekly programme.
President Cyril Ramaphosa had previously made a promise to do so at the Green Hydrogen Summit.
Magwenya noted that they had been receiving messages from South Africans worldwide regarding the proposal.
“The president has received a lot of messages in this regard via us and directly. South Africans from all walks of life have reached out to him. He said to me I must relay the fact that he’s considering the request,” he said.
