Cape Town – As South Africans prepare for the Easter weekend, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned of ongoing wet weather that may disrupt travel and holiday plans.

Current Conditions: Heavy rain and thunderstorms hit KwaZulu-Natal and the eastern Eastern Cape on Wednesday. A Level 2 warning was issued for parts of the Wild Coast and southern KZN.

Thursday Forecast: Rain will ease, but isolated showers and thundershowers remain likely in Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and coastal areas of the Eastern Cape and KZN.

April 18–19: A 30% chance of rain is forecast for central and north-eastern regions (Free State, Gauteng, North West), while the western areas are expected to stay dry.

April 20–21 Outlook: A surface and upper-air trough will bring widespread rain (30%–60% chance) to the western interior, southern, and south-eastern parts, including the Northern Cape, Free State, Eastern Cape, and Garden Route. Heavier rain may fall in the southern Drakensberg.
Temperatures will range from cool to warm, with colder weather in rainy areas. Authorities advise caution due to possible flooding and travel disruptions.
