Cape Town – The State’s protection team has wrapped up its investigation into the assault case involving eight members of the protectors of Deputy President Paul Mashatile.
The charges include assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, property damage, and pointing a firearm.
The incident occurred in July when the officers were caught on camera assaulting off-duty soldiers near the N1 highway in Fourways.

The accused, who previously wore masks due to an ongoing identity parade, appeared without them in court.
The NPA says it is certain it has a watertight case against Deputy President – Paul Mashatile’s former bodyguards.

The state prosecutor announced the completion of the investigation and proposed a trial date, with evidence disclosure scheduled for January, and the trial expected to commence on May 6, 2024.
According to Kaya 959, the National Prosecuting Authority said it was certain it had a watertight case against the bodyguards.
