“Our joint forces responded immediately on receiving the information and are aggressively pursuing the suspected ADF rebels,” the report quoted Uganda police force spokesperson Fred Enanga as saying.
According to Bashir Hangi, the representative for the Uganda Wildlife Authority, the assault occurred on Tuesday evening, Reuters reported.
The ADF initially began as an uprising in Uganda but has since been based in the Democratic Republic of Congo since the late 1990s.
In 2019, it pledged allegiance to the Islamic State and has been accused of carrying out numerous deadly raids, resulting in the deaths of thousands of villagers over the past decade.
