Cape Town – South Africa has recorded a total of 3 374 262 Covid-19 infections, with 21 157 new cases identified in the past 24 hours, the National Department of Health said on Thursday.
This increase represents a 29.1% positivity rate after 72 689tests were conducted.
A further 75 Covid-19 related deaths were reported, bringing the total fatalities to 90 662 since the discovery of the virus in the country.
“As of today the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases identified in SA is 3 374 262 with 21 156 new cases reported. Today 75 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 90 662 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 3 094 902 with a recovery rate of 91.7%,” the department said in a statement.

KwaZulu-Natal accounted for 5 241 new cases, followed by Western Cape (4 597), and Gauteng (4 206).
Northern Cape continued to account for the least cases with 0nly 401 new cases in the past 24 hours.
