Cape Town – South Africa has recorded a total of 3 688 423 Covid-19 infections, with 1 867 new cases identified in the past 24 hours, the National Department of Health said on Wednesday.
This increase represents a 6.5% positivity rate after 28 667 tests were conducted.
A further 13 Covid-19 related deaths were reported, bringing the total fatalities to 99 656 since the discovery of the virus in the country.
“As of today, the cumulative number of #Covid-19 cases identified in SA is 3 688 423 with 1 867 new cases reported. Today 13 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 99 656 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stands at 3 569 538 with a recovery rate of 96.8%,” said the health department in a statement.

The majority of new cases were from Gauteng (37%), followed by Western Cape (26%), Kwa-Zulu Natal (15%).
