Cape Town – South Africa recorded 801 new Covid-19 infections on Monday after 21 020 tests were conducted, said the National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD).
This increase represents a positivity rate of 5.5%.
A further 62 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 99 609.
“21 020 tests were conducted in the last 24hrs, with 801 new cases, representing a 5.5% positivity rate. Today @HealthZA reports 62 deaths; of which 6 occurred in the past 24–48 hours. Total fatalities are 99 609 to date,” said the NICD in a statement.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic in the country is 3 685 120.
The majority of cases reported in the last 24 hours were from Gauteng (32%), followed by Western Cape (20%), and KwaZulu-Natal (15%).
