Cape Town – A total of 23 884 new Covid-19 cases and 24 deaths were recorded in South Africa, according to a report by the National Department of Health on Tuesday.
This brings the country’s cumulative number of Covid-19 cases to 3 204 642.
“As of today the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases identified in SA is 3 204 642 with 23 884 new cases reported. Today 24 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 90 172 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 2 943 670 with a recovery rate of 91,8%,” said the department in a statement.

The National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD) said a total number of 68 437 tests were conducted, with a positivity rate of 34.9%.
Gauteng continued to lead, with 8 685 new infections, followed by KwaZulu-Natal (5 205) and the Western Cape (3 180).
The least number of cases was recorded in the Nothern Cape, which had 333.
