Cape Town – South Africa has reported 1 332 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 3 582 691, the National Department of Health said on Monday.
A total of 88 Covid-19 related deaths were also reported, bringing the accumulative number of death to 94 265 since the pandemic hit the country in March 2019.
“As of today the cumulative number of #Covid-19 cases identified in SA is 3 582 691 with 1332 new cases reported. Today 88 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 94 265 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 3 413 926 with a recovery rate of 95.3%,” the department said in a statement.

According to the National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD), 17 187 tests were conducted with a 7.8% positivity rate.
The majority of new cases are from Gauteng (460), Western Cape (232), and KwaZulu-Natal (213).
At the bottom is the Northern Cape with only 26 newly recorded cases.

“Due to the ongoing audit exercise by the National Department of Health (NDoH), there may be a backlog of #Covid-19 mortality cases reported. Today, the NDoH reports 88 deaths and of these, 14 occurred in the past 24 – 48 hours. This brings the total fatalities to 94,265 to date,” the department of health said in a statement.
