Cape Town – South Africa recorded 1 151 new Covid-19 infections, bringing the country’s cumulative number of Covid-19 cases to 3 659 698, the National Department of Health said on Monday.
A total number of 15 604 tests were conducted, with a positivity rate of 7.4%.
The department said 137 deaths were reported, bringing the total to 98 804 deaths since the virus’s outbreak in March 2020.
“As of today, the cumulative number of #Covid-19 cases identified in SA is 3 659 698 with 1 151 new cases reported. Today 137 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 98 804 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stands at 3 524 402 with a recovery rate of 96.3%,” the department said in a statement.

Gauteng accounted for the majority of cases, with 459 new infections, followed by Western Cape (191), and KwaZulu-Natal (107).
At the least was the Nothern Cape with 14 new recorded cases.
