Cape Town – Business Unity South Africa (Busa) is eagerly anticipating President Cyril Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation Address, hoping for solutions to challenges in energy, logistics, crime, and corruption.
According to Times Live, Busa is urging the government to involve the private sector more in constructing, operating, and maintaining critical logistics networks and energy generation.
Additionally, Busa emphasises the need for prioritising municipal government “with a view to enabling political and administrative structures that focus on service delivery and infrastructure, moving away from the current shambles caused by political fighting”.
Meanwhile, as reported by IOL, investors are seeking policy certainty, a reform agenda, and clarity on National Health Insurance (NHI) implementation from Ramaphosa’s Sona, despite the absence of an announcement for the 2024 general election date.

The president faces challenges including a low-growth trajectory, high unemployment, inequality, crime, corruption, infrastructure decay, and energy crises.
Analysts doubt if the Sona will provide an accurate reflection of the country’s situation or merely focus on the ruling party’s successes, the report said.
Expectations include support for reform initiatives, continuation of Operation Vulindlela, and commitment to addressing crime, corruption, electricity, and logistics.
