Cape Town – A 42-year-old man in Mamaila village, Limpopo, was arrested for allegedly killing his mother and transporting her body in a wheelbarrow.
He is set to appear in court later this week.
Neighbours reportedly heard him shouting at his mother before discovering her body in the wheelbarrow.
Later, he purportedly summoned a neighbour to inspect the contents of the wheelbarrow, police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said.
“It was discovered he was carrying the body of his mother. Community members immediately attacked the suspect and police were notified about the incident,” Mashaba said.
“Police found the body of a woman wrapped in a blanket and put inside the wheelbarrow. Emergency services personnel certified the woman dead. She was identified as Mamaila Moloi Matele, 69. A case of murder was opened,” Mashaba said.
