Cape Town – A video of Bheki Cele telling Action Society director Ian Cameron to shut up during a community meeting in Gugulethu on Tuesday sparked outrage on social media.
Cele was meeting with Gugulethu and Nyanga residents to engage them on the increasing crime in communities.
Cameron chastised Cele for ‘politicising crime’, claiming that victims wanted justice and that ordinary South Africans affected by high crime rates were unconcerned about his views on the constitution and devolution.

“It’s unacceptable, sir. You talk down to the neighbourhood watches and don’t understand the policy framework. You are failing in your duties,” Cameron told Cele.
Cameron’s remarks irritated Cele, and as a result, Cameron was forcibly removed from the venue by police.
“Don’t teach me about human rights. Don’t talk to me about the safety of my people. I fought for it… I nearly died for it. Don’t provoke me… don’t tell me about things you have studied and you have heard,” said a fuming Cele.
Following the incident, Action Society said it was planning to take legal action against Cele.
The lobby group planned to lay four charges and complaints against the minister and members of the police who removed him from the community hall.
“Action Society and I will be laying 4 charges and complaints against Bheki Cele & the members of the SAPS who spinelessly removed me from yesterday’s community meeting held in Gugulethu,” said @IanCameron23, director of community safety at Action Society.https://t.co/LUEAuoONKf

Cele needs to be removed from his position. I think his reaction pretty much reveals the pulse of the ANC.

It is imperative that we vote the ANC out. There’s no good left in this political party. Bheki Cele is calling the reality we live in day and night nonesense.
