Cape Town – A motor vehicle accident involving a truck and a bakkie killed six people, including an infant, on the N1 near the Baobab Toll Plaza in Limpopo on Boxing day.
The Limpopo Department of Transport confirmed the accident on Twitter.
“Six people were killed in a crash between a bakkie and a truck on 26 December 2022, near the Baobab Toll Plaza on the N1 -29 in Vhembe District. Speeding is cited as a possible cause. MEC Florence Radzilani sends condolences to the bereaved families.”

According to Arrive Alive, the six people who died included a 35-year-old driver, four passengers aged between eight and fifteen, and an infant. Law enforcement officers at the scene cite speeding as a possible cause of the crash.
They also quoted MEC Florence Radzilani, who sent her condolences to the families of the deceased.
“We are saddened by these fatalities and send our deepest condolences to the families that are affected in this tragic incident. We continue to plead with all motorists to obey the rules of the road, for everyone to arrive at their respective destinations alive and sound,” the report quoted MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Florence Radzilani as saying.
