Cape Town – Social media users troll National Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula over the weekend after he jokingly shared a photoshopped picture of himself on Twitter.
The doctored image written “Minister of Electricity?” on it, showed Mbalula electrocuted while holding two smoky electric cables.
“Ndimlo (meaning This is me)” he captioned the picture with laughing emojis.
The joke came shortly after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the plans to appoint “Minister of Electricity” during his State of the Nation Address (SONA).
The minister will oversee all aspects of the electricity crisis response, including the work of the National Energy Crisis Committee.

However, the joke backfired, with Twitter users trolling “Mbaks” for failing in his own portfolio as minister of transport.
Some alleged that ministers did not experience load shedding, hence the audacity to joke about the situation.
Meanwhile, Eskom announced that it will be implementing stages 3 and 4 load shedding until further notice.
Here are some responses on Twitter
Why is everything a joke to you? People lost jobs; more people are still going to lose their jobs. Electricity crisis has pushed food prices up the roof, the impact of LS is long, us ordinary citizens are feeling this.

None of these Ministers face load shedding. Of course they’ll tweet and laugh about it – why is everyone so surprised? You think they know what you’re going through?
