Cape Town – Passengers were left shocked on Saturday when a Germiston taxi driver reportedly stopped his vehicle to shoot a 32-year-old man he allegedly had an old beef with, and carried on to get the passengers to their destination.
The wounded man was rushed to hospital.
According to News24, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) said that they were alerted about the incident by a motorist who saw the shooting taking place.
When they went to investigate, they stopped a Toyota Quantum Ses’fikile minibus taxi with 14 passengers on board.
The taxi driver was instructed to alight the minibus and was arrested.
He was disarmed of a 9mm Browning pistol, with 12 live rounds of ammunition.
The taxi driver, who faces a murder charge, will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The incident comes a few days after Chandra Smith, 25, was shot in the neck in the parking lot of The Pearls Mall in uMhlanga, Durban.
In a viral video Smith was seen being shot in the neck during an alleged argument.
She spoke after being discharged from the hospital and said that she believed it was God who saved her.
