Cape Town – Western Cape police are investigating two cases of murder after the bodies of a man and woman were reportedly found bound with gunshot wounds at Strandfontein beach on Saturday.
Reports said both victims, covered with white sheets, were declared dead at the scene.
“Both victims sustained gunshot wounds to their bodies. The victims were declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. The unknown suspects who fled the scene are yet to be arrested. The motive for the attack is unknown,” EWN quoted police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi as saying.
Mitchells Plain police were investigating two cases of murder.
Strandfontein community activist Elton-Enrique Jansen called for beach security to be tightened following the shocking incident, IOL reported.

“Whoever did this had intentions of doing it because the people were found tied. It is unfortunate that this happened and people go to the beach at any time but some are there for no good reason in the middle of the night,” the report quoted Jansen as saying.
Jansen said bodies being dumped on beaches was a growing trend and that government needed to beef up its beach security, especially at night.
