Cape Town – Police in the Free State are reportedly investigating a case where three bodies were discovered at the Die Byenes Children Day-Care in Wilgehof, Bloemfontein on Thursday morning.
The victims, Betsie Kruger, 65, her daughter Janine, 35, and her son-in-law Christo Theron, 36, were brutally murdered reports said.
According to Times Live, the three were allegedly tied up and strangled to death.
“The bodies of Christo, 36, and Janine Theron, 35, as well as Betsie Kruger, 65, were found inside the house in Van Heerden Street, Weilgehof, in Bloemfontein.
“It is unknown how many perpetrators were involved. The suspect(s) took an undisclosed amount of cash, a laptop and personal items,” the report quoted added,” the report quoted police spokesperson Captain Loraine Earle as saying.
It remained unclear how many perpetrators were involved in the crime and police have appealed to the public for any information related to the case.
Betsie Kruger, was a beloved figure in her community and was the owner of the day-care centre, News24 reported.
The suspects fled with money, a laptop, and personal items.
No arrests have been made yet.
Betsie, affectionately called “Ouma” by the children at the day care centre, was adored by both the community and the children she taught.
She was described as gentle and loving.
“She was not the children’s teacher, but they used to call her Ouma. She was loved dearly by the community,” her daughter-in-law, Anria said.
Betsie’s mother, 91-year-old Aletta Becker, escaped the attack unharmed, the report said.
Christo and Janine recently got married.
