Cape Town – Police are reportedly investigating after a 22-year-old woman from Orange Farm was found dead, with her face burnt, a day after she was seen going to a nearby tuck shop and never returned home.
Reports said the body of Lebogang Mthembu was found in Evaton North, Vereeniging.
Prior to her disappearance Lebogang was allegedly confronted and physically assaulted by four girls, including one of the girl’s mother following a social media quarrel, reported News24.
According to the report, the young woman’s friends allegedly told her that she was going to die.
They allegedly said this in front of Lebogang’s mother, the report said.

“When I saw her body at the mortuary, I still could not believe it was her. She was killed brutally and what hurts the most is that I don’t understand why they burnt her face,” the report quoted Lebogang’s mother Deliwe as saying.
Daily Sun reported that the assault on Lebogang stemmed from a Facebook post where they were mocking each other.
They made fun of each other about “who had an ugly baby and who has a beautiful one” on a Facebook post, the report said.
According to Gauteng police spokesperson Leiutenant Mavela Masondo police have opened a murder case and pleaded with anyone with information to come forward, the report said.
