Cape Town – Charlene Naicker, 38, of Durban has reportedly been whispering her children’s names while in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following an attack at their home.
According to Times Live, Naicker was about to serve dinner when the gunmen entered their home and started shooting.
They shot her and her two children, Chazlyn, 2, and son, Ainzlee, 14, who were inside the house with her during the incident.
Her other three children, aged five, seven, and eleven, were outside, in the yard at the time of the incident, but escaped unharmed.
“When my mother heard gunshots, she ran next door. Charlene was hanging over the stable door. There was blood everywhere. The children were on the floor in the house. The neighbours took them to hospital, but the children did not make it,” the report Naicker’s sister Samantha Windvogel, who is a ward councillor in Durban

IOL reported that Naicker was shot six times in the thigh and stomach.
She’s been in the intensive care unit and has been whispering Chazlyn and Ainzlee’s names. She doesn’t know that her two children died.
Chazlyn was shot three times in the chest and once in the head and died on the way to the hospital. Ainzlee was shot three times in the neck, head, and hand. He died in hospital on Saturday morning, the report said.
Naicker’s husband was not at home when the incident occurred.
“Due to her being in a critical condition, we have not been able to see or speak to her. How will we even break this news to her that her babies, who were her entire life, have been taken away from her in such an inhumane way?,” the report quoted Windvogelas saying.
The children’s funeral will be held on Saturday.
The motive for the heinous attack remains unknown, and no one has been arrested.
