Cape Town – The body of a 13-year-old girl, Matshepo Cleo Malefane, was reportedly found hanging from a tree in Mapetla, Soweto, last Wednesday after she was allegedly last seen with her boyfriend.
According to The Citizen, Malefane’s body was discovered by community members who notified the police.
“We received a call from the community that there was a body of a young girl hanging from a tree,” the report quoted Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo as saying.
Prior to the gruesome discovery, Malefane was reported missing on Monday, 3, by her mother.
She was later found at her boyfriend’s place on Tuesday and it was agreed that she would come back home later on that day.
However, she never arrived home.

As a result, her brother returned to the boyfriend’s house to find her.
Unfortunately, upon his arrival, Malefane and her boyfriend were not there.
Malefane’s mother called her daughter’s boyfriend to inquire about her whereabouts, and the boyfriend replied that they were on their way back home.
They did not arrive for another hour, and the concerned mother then attempted to contact the boyfriend again, but was unsuccessful.
Police said investigations were under way.
A crime blogger, CrimeInSA has also called upon those who may have any information about the incident to report to the police.
“… Anyone with information is urged to alert the police,” said CrimeInSA in a tweet.
