Nelspruit – Community members in Kamaqhekeza, Tonga outside Komatipoort were stunned by the discovery of a semi-decomposed body of a male on Friday, January 6.
According to South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, reports indicate that the unknown person was found floating in the stream that runs across the build-up area next to a bridge on the R571 road from Mananga Port of Entry and Komatipoort that separate Block C and Kamaqhekeza.
A caller notified the police who upon arrival were met with a semi-decomposed body of a middle-aged man.
“Upon investigation it is suspected that the body has been on the stream for some time as the face has already lost recognition, but the entire body is still intact.
“The cause of death is yet to be established pending the postmortem results,” Mohlala said in a statement.
Police have urged community members who may have lost their loved one befitting the description to help them complete their investigation by identifying the body.
“The Provincial Management hopes to locate the family of the deceased so that he can get a proper send-off,” Mohlala added.
