Cape Town — A Sekhukhune United player has handed himself over to the police following a horrific accident that resulted in the death of a nine-year-old girl.
In a video that has been circulating on X, dashcam footage shows a car trailing a red Hyundai along the road when a black BMW driving recklessly comes hurdling towards them from the other side of the road resulting in a head-on collision.
According to SABC News, the accident took place on Andrew Mapetho Road in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni. Ekurhuleni Police spokesperson, Thabiso Makgatho said Mogaila hit a car that was carrying two children to school. Makgatho says the soccer star handed himself over at Rabie Ridge police station.

According to The Citizen, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) footballer allegedly fled the scene, but later turned himself in after police launched a manhunt for him. Police found various bottles of alcohol and suspected drugs in his car too.
“When Ekurhuleni Metro Police arrived at the scene we found four bottles of potent alcohol named Don Julio. A powder which we suspect could be ‘cocaine’ and ‘weed edibles’ were also found in his vehicle. A case of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent and fleeing the scene of the accident has been opened,” Makgatho said.
The crash came a day after Sekhukhune United claimed a 2-0 victory against Richard’s Bay at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Tuesday night.
