Cape Town – The Wilderness Search And Rescue (WSAR) team rushed to the aid of Cape Town woman after her vehicle tumbled down a steep slope on Chapman’s Peak Drive on Monday.
The 43-year-old woman was driving towards Hout Bay when her vehicle veered off the road and plunged 180 metres down Chapman’s Peak Drive.
According to WSAR rescue team members navigated the steep terrain in an effort to rescue to the injured woman and raise her back to the road.
“Dedicated teams of professionals and volunteers from Wilderness Search And Rescue (WSAR) were called to assist other agencies after a vehicle left the road on Chapman’s Peak Drive on Monday afternoon.” said WSAR.
WSAR spokesperson, David Nel said this was a demanding scenario made less difficult by having access to so many competent rescue specialists at one scene.
He said a small medical and rescue team navigated the steep terrain down to the wreck and found that the patient had managed to exit the car but was unable to walk any further.
“Once the team made their way back up to the road with the patient on a stretcher, the patient was met with an ambulance who then transported her to a hospital.” Nel said.
