According to SABC News, eyewitnesses had reported that the spot where the incident took place, was not the first time that such an incident has occurred. There are calls for authorities to rehabilitate the road.
“What happened here is very horrific, the bus came from Sibasa direction, through the road to Khoroni. The bus seemed to have failed brakes; it started hooting as it had lost control. The bus started to crash with other cars. We were behind the bus, and what we saw was that the bus started hooting and that it had lost its brakes.”
