Cape Town – Former president Jacob Zuma’s daughter Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla set tongues wagging last week when she took to Twitter to post a bottle of Don Julio 1942 Tequila as part of her father’s birthday celebrations.
Zuma turned 80 on Tuesday, April 12.
According to Times Live, Zuma celebrated his birthday at Nkandla after he was discharged from hospital.
He had been admitted to an undisclosed hospital for tests just before his birthday and the start of his controversial arms deal trial.

Zuma’s foundation spokesperson Mzwanele Many did not give details regarding which hospital Zuma was in, News24 reported.
“He is under strict observation.
“He is not even at home, he is in hospital. I will not say which hospital because that is a security issue. We will give updates as it unfolds,” said Manyi according to the report at the time.
Taking to social media, Zuma-Sambudla showed off the Tequila bottle and wrote:
“[Former] president Zuma belongs to the class of 1942,” wrote Zuma-Sambudla.

The imported tequila costs between R9 000 and R10 000 at liquor outlets in SA, including Takealot.
Zuma’s foundation thanked people for wishing him well.
“[Former] president Zuma was humbled by the outpouring [of] love and good wishes that he received, including the prayers for his speedy recovery. The well-wishing messages and gifts continued pouring in after the birthday,” the foundation said in a statement, adding that the former president was in high spirits.
