Cape Town – The search for a lion on the loose in the Hennops area in Gauteng is still on after it was initially spotted roaming near the R511 highway near Centurion on Wednesday.
According to Arthur Crewe from the Strategic Response and Rescue Unit, the lion remains on the loose and there is so far no confirmation from where it escaped, IOL reported.
“What happened is that at 2 o’clock yesterday (Tuesday) morning, a security officer that was patrolling the area had spotted the lion on the 511 in the Hennops area. He (security officer) posted on the local group for everybody to be cautious,” Crewe said.
The Tshwane Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, a community patrol forum and a security company have been working together to track down the lion, Eye Witness News reported.
The lion hasn’t been claimed by any owners, game farms, or animal rehabilitation reserves yet, the report said.
