Cape Town — Eight people including schoolchildren were killed in a head-on collision between a minibus taxi and a truck on the N2 near Mandeni in northern KwaZulu -Natal.
The truck driver, who was critically injured in the collision, has been transported to hospital, the SABC reported.
According to ENCA, emergency personnel are still on the screen and the highway is closed in both directions. Motorists are being advised to use the alternative R102 route as the N2 is likely to remain closed for the next six hours, says Arrive Alive.

“This is an active scene, with the N2 closed in both directions between Bridges 18 and 19 on the KZN North Coast,” said IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Samantha Meyrick .
According to News24, the minibus involved in the collision was taking the children to school.
