Cape Town – The man who was struck by a Toyota Tazz after he robbed the owner in Durban South’s Bluff area, remains under medical supervision, a report says.
His scheduled court appearance on Friday did not occur. It was postponed to October 20.
“The matter was remanded in absentia to October 20. The man is still under medical care,” Times Live quoted National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Natasha Kara as saying.
The incident occurred as the driver, identified as Sandy-Lee Ward, was mugged while leaving a shopping centre.
CCTV footage shows two men stealing her handbag near a petrol station.
Ward chased after one of the robbers, hitting him with her car. The incident took place in front of police officers, and only one suspect was arrested at the scene.
Ward’s motivation for pursuing the robber was reportedly to retrieve her belongings.
She expressed relief that she didn’t kill the assailant and attributed her actions to divine intervention but did not provide further comments.
No charges have been filed against her.
