Cape Town — Police in Limpopo have issued a caution to community members regarding persistent recruitment scams that aim to deceive job seekers with false promises of employment within the South African Police Service (SAPS) in exchange for financial payments.
A statement said these scammers target prospective applicants for police jobs to pay a certain amount of money through e-wallet and cash send procedure in exchange for receiving competent results after writing their psychometric assessments.
“The Police have already received several complaints across the province regarding these scammers. The management has initiated investigations into these fraudulent schemes to bring the perpetrators to justice.” Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said.
Acting police Limpopo provincial commissioner, Major General Jan Scheepers has urged people who have fallen victim to the scams to register cases.
“Community members should know that our recruitment processes are transparent, merit-based, and do not require any form of payment at any stage of the process,” Scheepers said.
