Durban – South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed that an alleged hitman was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and was detained at KwaMbonambi Police station.
According to Police spokesperson, Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo, the King Cetshwayo District Crime Intelligence, and Essential Infrastructure Task Team (EITT) conducted an intelligence-driven operation at Nhlabane Reserve in KwaMbonambi.
The units were reportedly searching for a suspect that is wanted for various crimes including murder in the early hours of Saturday morning.

“Investigations revealed that the suspect is working as a bodyguard for a businessman. His firearm was subjected to ballistic testing to determine if he is linked to cases of murder that were reported recently,” the colonel said.
“During the operation the 36-year-old man was searched and found in possession of a firearm and ammunition. He was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and was detained at KwaMbonambi SAPS,” he added.
The suspect is due to appear before KwaMbonambi Magistrate Court on Monday, October 31, 2022.
