Cape Town — The South African National Parks (SANParks) says communities around Table Mountain have mobilised themselves in an attempt to put an end to crime in the area.
SANPArks presented its crime fighting efforts this week to demonstrate the skills of its protection units in a safety and security event, EWN reported.
SANParks also said their joint operation with the South African Police Services (SAPS) and the City of Cape Town was yielding positive results.
“On the issue of visitor numbers, as I’m saying, we are not at the point where we can say there’s been a decline as such. But we are more encouraged by the fact that there’s an attitude of saying we will not tolerate any criminal activity on our parks,” City spokesperson JP Smith said.

According to SANParks manager, Property Mokoena, they are committed to fighting crime in various tourist attractions throughout the Mother City.
“Touching on issues of safety in the National Park, you will appreciate that the crime which happens here, in the mountain, is a symptom of what is happening in the landscape and we are committed to fighting that, and we depend on a lot of colleagues, or partners, to ensure that it becomes a success,” he said in a video on X.
