Cape Town – Skeletal remains of a 61-year-old South African woman were reportedly found on a sofa in her London flat more than two years after her death.
According to The South African, police made the gruesome discovery in February 2022.
The woman’s decomposed skeletal remains were found propped on the sofa and apparently flanked by deflated party balloons (the presence of which was yet another mystery).
It was believed that Sheila Seleoane was a medical secretary. She died in 2019 in Peckham, South London.
The report said that for the past two years, neighbours allegedly complained about an odour from Sheila’s flat yet no action was taken.

Seleoane’s only family in the UK was her estranged brother, who was a convicted murderer, the report said.
Daily Mail reported that Sheila’s distant relatives were traced back to the Eastern Cape where her mother emigrated from in 1954 to London to work as a doctor’s housekeeper.
No foul play was suspected and the police attributed her death to natural causes.
Her remains were flown to her family in the Eastern Cape and a funeral ceremony was held last month, the report said.
However, Sheila’s sister, Julia Bella Brooms who lived in South Africa and had never met Sheila was left with many unanswered questions surrounding her sister’s death.
“Where were Sheila’s neighbours? Where were her work colleagues? People from the local municipality? Her landlord? This could never happen in South Africa. Here, when your neighbour isn’t seen, even for one or two days, you go to check up on them. We live as a community,” Julia was quoted as saying.
