South Africa’s Covid-19 death toll hit 58 702 on Sunday, following the death of 112 more people, the health department has said.
The total number of new infections stood at 13 155 over the past 24 hour cycle, with the total number of positive cases now at 1 823 319.
Gauteng continued to bear the brunt of the virus, registering 66% of the 13 155 new cases recorded, according to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD).
Just over 2 141000 people have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine so far.
