Cape Town – Orange level five weather warnings have been issued for Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and KwaZulu-Natal, as heavy downpours are expected from Sunday into the week.
“For tonight we are expecting widespread thundershowers over Gauteng with a yellow level 4 warning for rain expected to lead to some localised flooding in some areas, and for tomorrow we are expecting orange level 5 over most parts of Gauteng of disruptive rain and localised flooding, and with that, you can expect some interruptions as people travel for tomorrow,” Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela said, according to SABC News.
Meanwhile, according to Times Live, the South African Weather Service warned of heavy rains across central and eastern regions until at least Wednesday.
Forecasters also predicted a severe storm system approaching Durban, Pietermaritzburg, and Richards Bay.
Residents were advised to stay informed, avoid flooded roads, and move to higher ground in case of rising floodwaters.
