Cape Town – Rassie Erasmus, the director of rugby for SA Rugby, is recovering in the hospital after sustaining chemical burns in a freak accident.
“Rassie Erasmus is recovering in hospital following a medical procedure for chemical burns sustained in a freak accident using a powerful detergent product. He is otherwise in good health and expects to return to full-time working within weeks.,” SA Rugby confirmed on Saturday.

Erasmus recently took over the Springbok coaching job from Jacques Nienaber after the successful World Cup in France.
The South African national team, under Erasmus’s leadership, will play against Ireland in Pretoria on July 6, marking their first home game since winning the Rugby World Cup.
