According to Times Live, a minister earns R2,473,682, while a deputy minister receives R2,037,129.
The Independent Commission for the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers recently proposed a 3.8% increase in salary and benefits for politicians and officials in 2023, the report said.
These proposed increases were published in the Government Gazette after consultations with various government departments and officials.
Take a look at some of the reactions on Twitter:
Let me guess he couldn’t wear a shirt and jacket because of loadshedding. Helper was not able to iron shirts.

Read the room. I’m not saying don’t wear your fav brands. But your PR team has failed here. You are here to address an issue that’s crippling the economy daily, and the attention is on the indirect endorsement of a luxury brand. E nale bo out of touch…

Never thought I’d see a Minister wearing a Michael Kors crew neck while acting in their official capacity.

Media trainers always say “don’t wear branded clothes for TV interviews, unless you’re promoting that brand”. For a govt minister, I can’t explain how insanely distracting that top is. https://t.co/yQ35PxfLCO

Found it so disturbing & obnoxious of you sit there & speak of the energy crisis in a Michael Kors top like it’s nothing…

Look as much as people can wear whatever they want , I find it extremely unsettling when politicians continue to flash their expensive items especially when that political party has been found in hot waters for fraud, corruption and looting of state funds. https://t.co/NE2Y4bYzNx
