Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa will embark on a State Visit to China from 2-5 September 2024 to strengthen diplomatic and trade relations.
This visit follows Chinese President Xi Jinping’s 2023 visit to South Africa.
China, South Africa’s largest trading partner with a bilateral trade of US$34 billion in 2023, is also the country’s top source of foreign direct investment.
“A number of important agreements are expected to be concluded during the State Visit, including a Framework Agreement on Development Cooperation, the trade balance and market access expansion,” Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni said during a media briefing to outline the outcomes of Cabinet’s meeting on Wednesday.
During the visit, several agreements, including a Framework Agreement on Development Cooperation, are expected to be signed.
The South African delegation will also attend the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) from 4-6 September 2024.
